Understanding your peers means better business

Being an Oaktree Networking member has many advantages. Not only do our members have the opportunity to network with like-minded peers from other local businesses within an informal, friendly environment, we also give them the opportunity to present to their fellow network members. This ensures that they understand each others' businesses and how these services can complement their own activities.

At the Milton Keynes meeting in November, Oaktree members heard from Julia Rogerson of Willen Hospice, who gave them a fascinating insight into the thirty-year history of the hospice and how it is able to deliver such invaluable care. Willen Hospice provides care for people from the age of eighteen years upwards and this focuses on four key areas: specialist symptom control, emotional support, spiritual support and care for carers.

October's Milton Keynes meeting saw Liz McGlone and Pui Au-Yeung from Neves Solicitors in the spotlight. Neves Solicitors provide legal expertise in property, dispute resolution, divorce and family law, wills, trusts and probate, notary public, agriculture law, business law, company law, commercial property and employment law. Liz is well-known to many group members as the employment solicitor who wears brightly coloured shoes, and Pui's enthusiasm for family law was just as luminous!

The Northampton branch has also benefited from some engaging presentations from its members, especially from Steve Collier of Blueknight Learning who presented in September on drugs and alcohol! He produced an enlightening quiz, and while you may think this is a highly unusual subject for a member spotlight, Steve is a highly experienced trainer working with businesses to help identify such challenges in the workplace.
